Yesterday afternoon we spent several hours wandering the beautiful grounds at McLaughlin Gardens in South Paris, Maine. It was soooo beauiful! The greens were so lush and the fragrance of the lilacs filled the air. Each turn on the woodland paths opened up to a new treasure....trillum, jonquils, ferns, lady's mantle, just to name a few! If you ever have chance to be during lilac season...don't miss it...you'll treasure it forever!
Wow! I'm not a morning person, but this was worth experiencing! I was house/dog sitting so this was a real treat. It's mid March and winter is still hanging in there. No Easter bonnets this year, but the egg hunt on the lawn shoud be easy!
I've been re-reading Brian McClaren's book, "The Secret Message of Jesus". He talks alot about the Kingdom of God as being now and to come. Watching the sunrise, was one of the glimpses of God's desire for us to experience his blessings now. How much do I miss by being too busy to see this earth and the people on it thru God's eyes? My hope for this year is to learn to really see and then responding with awe and gratitude...maybe by giving a smile to a sad person or picking up a piece of trash rather than just walking by. Not changing the world all at once, but one small piece at a time! As Anne Lamont said,"one bird at a time, one bird at a time."
This Jewel with her daughter Crystal. They are always together! Today we were cleaning up from another storm! I think we have had over 100" so far this year. It is pretty but you have to throw it up over your head when shoveling now! Can't wait for spring.....!
After many days and weeks of snow and ice storms, we are in the middle of yet another storm! The big white blob is a big fat raindrop! The ice is beautiful, but I'm quickly posting this as the lights are starting to flicker. Better run down and put more wood on the fire! Stay warm.
